Hello,
first of all, I am sorry that I write in english. Unfortunately, I don´t speak swedish ... I hope it is fine for you.
I found your very interesting forum, during my search for informations about a old Volvo bus I found on a trip in Greece. I am looking for any information regarding the history of this beautiful bus. Version, build year, etc. On the bus itself, nothing was to be found, except the old Volvo logo. It has the old colors of the greek intercity busses (KTEL) and was found on the island of Cephalonia. Below is a picture of it.
Thank you very much in advance!

Hello KEF_75! Nice picture of this old Volvobus! Built on the truckchassie-type L375, manufactured between 1954-1962 with the nickname "Starke", in english "The strong one". Diesel-powered with Volvo's D47 engine of 95 h.p. As buses they were a rare sight among the around 13000 units delivered during the years mentioned. Regards BengaB40
Hello BengaB40,
thank you very much for your helpful informations! So, L375 was the basic truck version. What was the bus version called by Volvo?
A real pitty that nobody cares about it ... By the way, is there maybe a exemplar of this type preserved in the Volvo Museum in Arendal?
Hello again! There was never another name for the chassis which became buses afterwards as Volvo did not manufactured bodyworks themselves at that time. During 1958-64 Volvo delivered a forward controlled version, about 600 units, called B705 for "bulldog" bodywork- assemblage by various builders. As far as I know the Volvo Museum has no L375 bus preserved but I understand there is a very nice unit in Norway living today, maybe some of our bus-friends there can tell us something about that one! Regards BengaB40
Thank you again!
Do you maybe know, which companies manufactured this busses, based on the L375-chassis? Only companies in Sweden?
Best greetings
Hello, did you check if it was a diesel-engine? The truckchassi L360 (1955-57) had a gasoline engine "ED90", 90 hp, sidevalves. The chassi L370 "Brage" (1954-63) had a gasoline engine "A6", 105 hp, top valves. Both chassis had fronts as L375. The chassis 360, 370 and 375 was not used as buses in Sweden and i dont know any swedish coachworks who built buses on them. The bus on your photo has not a chassi of swedish type, i think it is built i Greece.
Best greetings Lars B
Hello Lars B! In my eyes it is evident on the photo that the sign "Diesel" beneath the Volvo-logo has been removed which may conclude the chassi is of L375 Starke type! The plate which the sign has been fixed upon can easily be seen! Regards BengaB40
Yes, it had a "Diesel"-engine. You can see the sign on the picture below the Volvo-logo. So, it was a locally made construction. Very interesting.
Thank you both for your valuable informations! Have a nice day :)
